Caretakr is a mutual aid community platform that connects travelers who need home and pet care with trusted friends and community members willing to help. By participating, you agree to these terms and commit to fostering a safe, supportive community.

Community Membership

Eligibility

• You must be invited by an existing trusted community member
• You must be 18 years or older
• You must provide accurate contact information
• You must commit to the principles of mutual aid and community care

Invitation Process

• Access requires a valid invite code from a trusted community member
• Your request will be reviewed by the inviting member
• Approval grants you a one-time access link to join the community
• False information or abuse of the invitation system may result in permanent exclusion

Community Guidelines

Mutual Aid Principles

• No Money Exchange: Care is provided as community support, not commercial service
• Reciprocity: Members are expected to both give and receive help when possible
• Respect: Treat all members, their homes, and their pets with care and respect
• Communication: Maintain clear, honest communication about availability and needs

Care Standards

• Follow all care instructions provided by pet/plant owners
• Respect home environments and personal belongings
• Provide timely updates and respond to communication
• Report any issues or emergencies immediately
• Confirm or cancel commitments in a timely manner

Responsibilities and Liability

Platform Responsibilities

Caretakr provides:

• A secure platform for community coordination
• Screening and invitation management
• Communication tools and reminders
• Basic safety measures and security protocols

Member Responsibilities

Community members are responsible for:

• Vetting and choosing appropriate caretakers
• Providing clear care instructions and emergency contacts
• Ensuring their pets and home are safe for caretakers
• Any damages or issues that occur during care arrangements

Safety and Security

Security Measures

• Multi-stage approval process for new members
• Anti-bot detection and rate limiting
• Secure access tokens with expiration
• Activity monitoring and security logging

Safety Guidelines

• Meet caretakers in person before leaving pets or home in their care
• Share emergency contacts and veterinary information
• Use the platform's communication tools for accountability
• Report any safety concerns to community administrators

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

• Commercial use or monetary exchange for care services
• Sharing invite codes with unknown individuals
• Providing false information during registration
• Abuse, harassment, or disrespectful behavior
• Damaging property or endangering pets
• Attempting to circumvent security measures
• Using automated tools or bots

Community Enforcement

Violations

Violations of these terms may result in:

• Warning and requirement for corrective action
• Temporary suspension from the community
• Permanent removal from the platform
• Reporting to relevant authorities if laws are violated

Dispute Resolution

Community disputes should first be addressed directly between members. If resolution isn't possible, contact a trusted community administrator for mediation.

Platform Changes

We reserve the right to:

• Modify these terms with advance notice to the community
• Update platform features and functionality
• Suspend or terminate the platform if necessary
• Remove members who violate community standards

Donations and Support

Caretakr operates on community donations. While donations are appreciated and help maintain the platform, they are completely voluntary and do not affect your membership status or access to the community.

Intellectual Property

The Caretakr platform is provided under open community principles. Members retain ownership of their personal information and content. The platform infrastructure is maintained by VERD.

Agreement

By using the Caretakr platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms of service. You also confirm your commitment to the principles of mutual aid and community care that make our platform possible.
